Arizona Cardinals rookie cornerback Byron Murphy recorded the first very interception of his young NFL career against the Tampa Buccaneers on Sunday.

It didn’t take long either.

On just the fourth play of the game, Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston targeted his No. 2 receiver in Chris Godwin.

But Murphy was draped all over the Bucs receiver in man coverage.

And with the throw being on the inside of Godwin, the rookie corner was able to use his underneath leverage to pick the ball off once he turned his head around and found it at the Tampa Bay 37-yard line.

The interception is only the third on the year for the Cardinals, but a good omen nonetheless, especially against a quarterback that came into Sunday’s contest tied for the most interceptions in the league (12).

On the ensuing drive, Arizona would go on to take an early 3-0 lead via Zane Gonzalez’s 37-yard field goal.
