NFL.com’s 2014 re-draft: Cardinals’ Logan Thomas has an uphill climb

Logan Thomas didn’t do much to prove his worth in his limited amount of opportunities he saw his rookie season. Because of that, the Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback saw his stock change a bit in the NFL.com re-draft.
Thomas was placed under the category of “uphill climb” and was the seventh quarterback selected in the re-draft. In reality, he was the sixth quarterback off the board when he was taken in the fourth round, 120th overall.
Thomas played four years at Virginia Tech and was a starter his last three. He finished his collegiate career with 9,003 passing yards, 53 passing touchdowns and 39 interceptions. The mobile quarterback also rushed for 1,359 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Thomas made his NFL debut against the Denver Broncos on October 5, when he filled in for an injured Drew Stanton.
He has the best stat line in NFL history: 1-for-9 with 81 yards, one touchdown, and one pissed-off father.
The “pissed-off father” is in reference to the Cardinals starting Ryan Lindley over Thomas in their playoff game against the Carolina Panthers.
In late March at the NFC Coaches Breakfast, Bruce Arians explained why he left Thomas on the bench.
“We drafted (Thomas) for two years from now, not for November,” Arians said. “It just so happened his number got called in November and I was not going to let him fail, because once you fail, those scars never go away. It’s very hard to get the guys back in the locker room if you cost them the playoffs. I just didn’t want to put him in that situation. Right or wrong, it just was my decision.”
The Tennessee Titans’ Zach Mettenberger was the only quarterback who was drafted lower than Thomas in the actual draft, to leap him in the re-draft.
