Outfielder Jarrod Dyson, who spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, has signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Post-Gazette reporter Jason Mackey.

In Pittsburgh, Dyson will be replacing the center fielder Arizona just traded for in Starling Marte.

Dyson hit just .216 last season, but he was a speedster and strong outfielder. He stole 30 bases last season and played all three outfield positions, primarily center field. He made just four errors during his time in Arizona and had 21 defensive runs saved over the two years, according to Fangraphs.

Over Dyson’s 10-year career, he is slashing .247/.319/.338 and averages 25 stolen bases per season.

He played for the Kansas City Royals for the first seven years of his career, winning a World Series ring in 2015, and played for the Seattle Mariners in 2017.

The D-backs added Marte and Kole Calhoun this offseason to set the primary outfield rotation next to David Peralta. They are expected to also have Tim Locastro, Josh Rojas and Ketel Marte as options.

Pitchers and catchers report to D-backs spring training Wednesday and the first full-squad workout is Monday.

The first game will take place Feb. 22 against the Colorado Rockies at 1:10 p.m.
