The Arizona Diamondbacks postponed an intrasquad game and other team activities at Chase Field on Monday by two hours as they waited for the results of coronavirus tests to be provided, Arizona Sports confirmed.

The news came in the wake of other cancellations around Major League Baseball as teams ran into issues with test results.

The defending champion Washington Nationals and reigning American League champion Houston Astros each called off training camp practices after not receiving test results from Friday. According to The Athletic, testers failed to show up for the Angels, while the A’s were frustrated by their tests awaiting shipment to Utah to be processed.

MLB issued a statement Monday, saying that 95% of the intake tests were “conducted, analyzed and shared with all 30 clubs,” and that the remaining 5% would be completed Monday.

“Our plan required extensive delivery and shipping services, including proactive special accommodations to account for the holiday weekend,” the statement said. “The vast majority of those deliveries occurred without incident and allowed the protocols to function as planned. Unfortunately, several situations included unforeseen delays. We have addressed the delays caused by the holiday weekend and do not expect a recurrence.”

Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant expressed dissatisfaction with the testing processes.

“What we agreed to was testing every other day,” he said, according to The Athletic’s Sahadev Sharma. “We have had guys here who showed up on Sunday and hadn’t gotten tested again [until] seven days later. And then you don’t get the results for two days either, so that’s nine days without knowing.

“I wanted to play this year because I felt that it would be safe and I would be comfortable. Honestly, I don’t really feel that way.”
