Six different MLB teams not playing in light of Jacob Blake shooting

The Milwaukee Brewers are following suit with the Milwaukee Bucks and other NBA teams in boycotting Wednesday night’s games, and other MLB teams are too.
Per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Brewers will not play Wednesday night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds following the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, Wisc.
According to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy, Brewers player representative Brent Suter called the boycott “a collective Reds/Brewers decision not to play tonight to focus on our community hurting and the issues that are bigger than baseball.”
The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres, set for a 6:10 p.m matchup, later announced they will also not play, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
A game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants became the third to be postponed, according to Passan.
Blake, a Black man, was shown on cellphone videos shot multiple times by police on Sunday.
All three games will be made up with doubleheaders on Thursday.
Before the Brewers’ decision, the Bucks were the first team to officially boycott Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs against the Orlando Magic.
After all three of Wednesday’s NBA playoff games had been boycotted, the decision was then made by the NBA to postpone them.
While six MLB teams will not play, Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro has learned that the Arizona Diamondbacks are still planning on playing Wednesday night.
The D-backs’ game against the Colorado Rockies at 6:40 p.m. was the only game of the three starting past 6 p.m. local time that was played.
