The Arizona Cardinals activated wide receiver Trent Sherfield from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday.
Sherfield was originally placed on the list last Thursday, along with fellow wideout Larry Fitzgerald. Both Fitzgerald and safety Deionte Thompson are still on the list.
While he has just one catch for six yards, Sherfield has been a factor in the team’s special teams coverage.
Additionally, the team designated defensive lineman Leki Fotu and cornerback Kevin Peterson to return from the injured reserve list.
Both players can begin practicing and the Cardinals can activate each of the players to the 53-man roster at any time over the next 21 days.
Fotu has missed the last three games due to an ankle injury. In six games this season, the rookie has amassed five tackles, one for loss.
Peterson returns to the gridiron after missing the last three games with a concussion suffered in the team’s Week 9 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Peterson recorded three tackles and a fumble recovery in eight games played this season.
It’s a welcome sign for a defense that has been decimated by injuries this season, especially along the defensive line.
The team also re-signed tight end Evan Baylis to the practice squad on Wednesday.
Baylis was released from Arizona’s active roster on Monday.
Baylis was signed to the 53-man roster last Saturday ahead of the Cardinals’ 20-17 loss to the New England Patriots.
The tight end first joined the Cardinals practice squad on Sept. 29. He spent training camp with the Green Bay Packers after playing in five games with them last season.
