The Arizona Cardinals activated defensive lineman Rashard Lawrence from the injured reserve/designated for return list on Tuesday.
Lawrence was originally placed on the IR on Oct. 17 after suffering a calf injury in the team’s win over the New York Jets in Week 5.
Before going down with the injury, the 2020 fourth-round draft pick out of LSU played in five games with the Cardinals, recording three tackles.
The return of Lawrence brings added depth to a defensive line that has been plagued with injuries this season.
In addition to losing both defensive tackle Corey Peters (knee) and pass-rusher Chandler Jones (biceps) for the remainder of the year, linemen Jordan Phillips (hamstring), Leki Fotu (ankle) and Josh Mauro (hamstring) have all seen time on injured reserve.
Zach Allen, who dealt with an ankle injury, is back in the fold after missing multiple games.
Helping replace the injured starters has been the combo of Trevon Coley and Angelo Blackson.
In five games this season, Coley registered 13 tackles, three for losses, 1.0 sack and two QB hits. Blackson added 16 tackles, three for losses, 2.0 sacks and five QB hits in 11 contests.
The team also went out and added free agent Domata Peko Sr. last Wednesday in an effort to beef up the depth along the defensive line. He figures to play in his first game as a Cardinal on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
