The Arizona Cardinals activated safety Deionte Thompson from COVID-19 reserve on Thursday, nine days after he was placed on the list.
Thompson, a second-year pro, started four games due to injuries to starters Jalen Thompson and Budda Baker, plus backup Chris Banjo. He adds depth to the group that is missing Jalen Thompson, who remains sidelined due to his second ankle injury of the season.
Deionte Thompson has 24 tackles and two passes defensed in eight games played.
Arizona activating Thompson off the COVID-19 reserve follows receiver and special teamer Trent Sherfield coming off the list on Wednesday.
Receiver Larry Fitzgerald remains on the list after reportedly testing positive for coronavirus on Thanksgiving.
Six Arizona players have landed on the COVID-19 reserve list so far this year.
Wide receiver KeeSean Johnson, cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. and pass rusher Devon Kennard had stints on the list due to either positive tests or contact tracing before Fitzgerald and Sherfield landed on COVID-19 reserve a week ago.
