Diamondbacks don’t expect to be ‘sellers’ at deadline

Jun 7, 2012, 9:44 PM | Updated: 11:08 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks are playing better baseball of
late, and a turnaround would render the question moot.

However, if the team’s early-season struggles linger, the
question would surely arise:

Will the D-backs be the proverbial “seller” at the trade
deadline?

Doesn’t look like it.

“The way our team is built, we’re not much of a selling
team,” team president Derrick Hall told Arizona Sports
620’s Doug and Wolf Thursday. “These pieces are in place
here, and who would we move?”

Hall did admit the team could end up dealing a pitcher
(cough…Joe Saunders…cough), but that would only be
done to make room for a prospect (cough…Trevor
Bauer…cough).

“I don’t really see us being sellers,” he continued. “Even
in times when it looked like we were out of it in the
past, we’ve been buyers.

“We’ve always tried to improve the roster, we always try
to want to win the second half of the season, and I don’t
see us throwing in the towel at any point.”
