Arizona Cardinals 7th round draft pick Gerald Christian is heading to Disneyland.
The Louisville tight end was the last pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, earning him the title ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ and his first trip to California.
“I’ve never been to California,” Christian told Burns & Gambo Tuesday on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “It’s a vacation before football starts.”
Christian will be the focus of a week of events in Newport Beach, Calif., from July 7-12, including a banquet, a trip to Disneyland, Angel Stadium and a roast.
“Looking at stuff online I guess I get a roast,” said Christian. “People get to come out and make fun of me. So I’m not really looking forward to that.”
Though Christian may not be thrilled about his upcoming roast, he is excited about other parts of the experience.
“They told me I’m gonna go out there and they’re gonna teach me how to surf,” he said. “I’m ready for that.”
Should be a sight to see at 6-foot-3, 244 pounds.
Over the last two seasons at Louisville, Christian caught 60 passes for 810 yards and nine touchdowns. And now, the Cardinals draft pick will receive the Lowsman Trophy, which is like the heralded Heisman Trophy except it depicts a player fumbling a football.
“I’ll probably give it to my mom,” Christian said. “I doubt I’ll have it at my house somewhere.”
