MRI on Upton’s hamstring is negative

It didn’t look good when Arizona Diamondbacks’ right fielder Justin Upton left Tuesday night’s game in the first inning.
Upton scored from third on a Ryan Wheeler sacrifice fly and grimaced in pain after turning toward the Arizona dugout.
The two-time All-Star had an MRI on his left hamstring Wednesday morning and the results were negative. Upton is listed as day-to-day.
With the Diamondbacks about to host their first-ever doubleheader, there is some question about Upton’s availability.
“I haven’t even talked to Gibby,” he said after entering the D-backs’ clubhouse following the MRI. “As far as I know, I’m available off the bench, and I’d love to get in there.”
The Diamondbacks, per the MLB collective bargaining agreement, are allowed to carry a 26th player on the roster, and outfielder A.J. Pollock was summoned from Triple-A Reno to fill that spot.
