Arizona State football switches sidelines

The Arizona State Sun Devils will have a different vantage point for their home games in 2015.

Starting this season, ASU’s home sideline will be on the west side of the field. It’s a move head coach Todd Graham has been wanting to make since he arrived in Tempe but was unable to due to the student section being located behind the east sideline.

Pac-12 policy prohibits student seating directly behind the visiting team’s bench. However, due to the renovation of Sun Devil Stadium, the school has created the “Double Inferno,” placing students in both the north and south end zones.

“There are many competitive advantages to changing our home sideline to the west side of the field, including getting us out of the sun during day games,” Graham said in a press release. “We already have the best home field advantage in the nation, and this will only enhance that even more”

Shade is never a bad thing.

Arizona State enters this season with incredibly high expectations after back-to-back 10-win seasons. Led by senior QB Mike Bercovici and a defense that returns nine starters from last season, the Devils are predicted to contend not only for the Pac-12 South title, but the conference championship as well.
