PFF sees 2nd-round pick Rondale Moore as a great fit with Cardinals

With the Cardinals taking Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, it’s clear Arizona wanted another playmaker for quarterback Kyler Murray.

The Cardinals aren’t the only ones who feel good about the wideout. Pro Football Focus’ Michael Renner believes Moore is one of 10 best fits from the draft.

We haven’t seen Moore fully healthy since his freshman year when he led the FBS in broken tackles after the catch with 33. He now goes to a team that threw the second-most wide receiver screens in the NFL last season yet averaged a paltry 4.1 yards per attempt on those plays. The difference between Moore catching screens and a 37-year-old Larry Fitzgerald catching screens is going to be night and day.

While Moore played just seven games over the last two season after opting out due to COVID-19 and injury, the 5-foot-8, 185-pounder had a stellar 2018 where he recorded 114 receptions for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns, primarily working in the slot. He also rushed 21 times for another 213 yards and two scores.

Moore doubled down on his athletic abilities with an impressive pro day that was highlighted by a 4.29-second 40-yard dash.

With Larry Fitzgerald still undecided on his NFL future as of Friday, Moore joins a wide receiver room featuring DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Christian Kirk, Andy Isabella and KeeSean Johnson.

While Hopkins, Green and Kirk seem locked in as the team’s top receiving threats, the team’s fourth receiver spot is up in the air with Isabella and Johnson struggling to make an impact since their arrivals in 2019.

Moore may excel as a slot receiver, but head coach Kliff Kingsbury plans to utilize him all over the field.

“We’re gonna move him around and make sure he gets his fair share of touches,” Kingsbury said following Moore’s selection. “When you watch the film that’s what jumps out more than anything … he’s a smaller guy in stature but he’s really, really strong and he’s really, really explosive. Any time he gets it, that first step, it’s hard to keep up with.”
