The Arizona Diamondbacks are turning to left-handed pitcher Alex Young on Tuesday night.
The pitcher is slated to make his first start of 2021 when the team takes on the San Francisco Giants.
In 26 games this season (28.2 innings pitched), Young is sporting a 3.45 ERA to go along with a 1.360 WHIP. He’s recorded 30 strikeouts, while giving up 15 walks and five home runs.
He gets the nod with starting pitchers Madison Bumgarner (left shoulder inflammation), Zac Gallen (sprained right elbow) and Taylor Widener (groin strain) all on the 10-day injured list.
Young will be tasked with getting a D-backs team that has lost 20 straight road games back on the right track Tuesday night in San Francisco. The D-backs are 0-3 against the Giants this season.
Arizona has given up at least four runs in 10 of their last 11 games.
The D-backs will look to snap their 11-game losing streak.
