The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated right-handed pitcher J.B. Bukauskas from the 10-day injured list on Thursday.
Bukauskas takes over Tim Locastro’s roster spot, who was dealt to the New York Yankees early in the day. With the addition, the D-backs’ 40-man roster is filled out.
“Obviously happy for him, I know he’s been working hard to get back here as soon as possible,” D-backs skipper Torey Lovullo said Thursday. “We have a need for him and he’s gonna get some opportunities to show us what he’s ready for and what he can do.”
Bukauskas last played on May 14 when he allowed two earned runs off of four hits. He also recorded a strikeout before being placed on the 10-day IL with a right elbow flexor strain.
Through 11 games this season (8.2 innings pitched), Bukauskas is sporting a 8.31 ERA to go along with a 1.846 WHIP. He’s struck out eight while walking two.
He rejoins an Arizona bullpen that includes Joakim Soria, Ryan Buchter, Joe Mantiply and Noe Ramirez. Taylor Clarke was placed on the 10-day IL earlier this month with a strained teres major muscle in his right shoulder.
The D-backs will look to snap a four-game losing streak Thursday night when they take on the San Francisco Giants.
