Larry Fitzgerald Sr. sends cryptic tweets on son’s future with Cardinals

Larry Fitzgerald Sr., father of Arizona Cardinals great Larry Fitzgerald, sent two tweets out that could either be indicative of the free agent wide receiver’s future plans or part of the offseason guessing game Cardinals fans have endured.

On Wednesday, a follower commented on the elder Fitzgerald’s tweet asking for news about his son and whether he would retire or not. The father commented back, “You believe in miracles?”

Fitzgerald Sr. followed up on his first tweet just one day later, giving an update on his son when a commenter specifically asked for something to read between the lines on.

This raised some eyebrows around the Valley.

Consistent with the message from the beginning of the offseason, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said, “the ball is in his court,” referencing whether or not the best player in the team’s history would return.

Although all of this does not mean Fitzgerald will return to the Cardinals, Fitzgerald Sr. could be simply leading fans on.

The Cardinals inch closer to the regular season with their preseason opener at State Farm Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys on Friday.

Arizona will kick off the regular season Sept. 12 at the Tennessee Titans.
