Arizona State football sophomore running back DeaMonte Trayanum did not participate in warm ups ahead of Saturday’s Week 2 matchup against UNLV.
Trayanum missed practice this week following ASU’s 41-14 victory over Southern Utah to open the season on Sept. 2.
The 235-pound running back had a big role in that win, carrying the ball six times for 52 yards and two touchdowns.
His second score was from 20 yards out toward the end of the first half. He hit the gap between the left tackle and guard, cut to avoid a defender and bounced to the outside where nobody caught him.
Trayanum is part of a strong running back tandem with redshirt senior Rachaad White. White had seven carries for 58 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1.
No Trayanum on Saturday night could create more opportunities for redshirt freshman running back Daniyel Ngata, who got more playing time last week as a result of the blowout. He is the third running back on the depth chart, but could have a greater role next year since White is a senior.
Trayanum ran for 290 yards on 49 carries in four games as a true freshman last season.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MST at Sun Devil Stadium.
