Arizona Diamondbacks announcer Greg Schulte to call game number 2,500 in Los Angeles

Sep 11, 2013, 11:49 PM | Updated: 11:50 pm

Greg Schulte, the radio voice of the Arizona Diamondbacks, will be calling his 2,500th game Wednesday night as the D-backs take on the Los Angeles Dodgers.

“It was something I wanted to do since I was a kid,” Schulte told Dbacks.com’s Steve Gilbert. “To finally get that opportunity and to make it last now for 16 years is pretty special.”

This is Schulte’s 16th season doing play-by-play for the D-backs, as he’s been calling their games since the team’s inception in 1998. He has been a staple in Phoenix, having worked with the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Cardinals prior to his current gig.
