Former receiver Frank Sanders got a tattoo of current Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury this week — more on that in a second.
While the general public can count that new ink as the first known Kingsbury-inspired tattoo, the head coach hinted Wednesday it was not the first known to him.
Kingsbury was asked by a reporter whether Sanders’ new skin art is the first time a player had gotten a tattoo in his honor.
“Not a male,” Kingsbury said dryly on Wednesday before wishing reporters a good day and signing off a Zoom meeting.
We will allow you to determine if that’s a joke or not.
Anyhow, Sanders, who had been critical of the Cardinals through Kingsbury’s first two years on the job, was inked live on the PHNX Cardinals podcast earlier this week after promising to do so if Arizona defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9 to advance to 8-1 on the season.
The Cardinals won that game 31-17 behind Colt McCoy at quarterback and with the 49ers desperately needing a victory, and Sanders showed no signs of backing out of his promise.

Now the follow-up question for the Cardinals’ next press conference is this: What’s the story behind the other — or others — who’s gotten a Kliff Kingsbury tattoo?
And congrats to Kingsbury for having his name or image or likeness inked on multiple human beings.
