Add the Arizona Cardinals to the growing list of NFL teams dealing with coronavirus issues this week.
Starting center Rodney Hudson was placed under the league’s COVID-19 protocols on Thursday and head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Friday that Hudson will miss Sunday’s matchup with the Detroit Lions.
Offensive lineman Max Garcia will start in place of Hudson.
It marks the second time Hudson has entered COVID-19 protocols this season, with the first being back on July 29 during training camp. He was later activated off the COVID-19 list on Aug. 2.
With Garcia moving over, that would mean Josh Jones would likely fill in at right guard.
The news of Hudson’s COVID-19 status comes after numerous teams around the league entered enhanced protocols following multiple reported positive cases.
That includes the Lions, who host the Cardinals this Sunday. As of Thursday morning, the Lions have a total of nine players on the COVID-19 list, including starting running back Jamal Williams and seven total defensive backs.
Lions safety Jalen Elliot was added to the COVID-19 list as recently as Thursday morning.
The Cardinals take on the Lions at 11 a.m. in Detroit. Tune to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station for all the action.
