Report: Cardinals add CB Bashaud Breeland to practice squad

The Arizona Cardinals added cornerback Bashaud Breeland to the practice squad on Monday, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The team was finally able to add Breeland after working him out last Monday.
Arizona agreed to a deal with Breeland, as first reported by NFL insider Josina Anderson, amid a hit to the cornerback depth chart. But upon arrival, Breeland tested positive for the virus, reported Pelissero.

The signing comes with cornerback Marco Wilson’s status still in the air due to a shoulder injury suffered in the team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Christmas Day.
It was yet another blow to the Cardinals’ depth at cornerback after Robert Alford was placed on the injured reserve with a pectoral injury. Alford hasn’t played since Week 14.
In place of Wilson and Alford on Sunday were corners Kevin Peterson and Antonio Hamilton.
Peterson played 92% of the defensive snaps (59), recording seven tackles (third most on the team). Hamilton saw 61% of the defensive snaps (39).
In over 13 games played with the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, Breeland recorded 63 tackles, two interceptions, five passes defensed and two forced fumbles.
Before his time with the Vikings, Breeland also played for the Washington Football Team (2014-17), the Green Bay Packers (2018) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2019-20).
