D-backs’ Paul Goldschmidt owns MLB’s longest May home run

The numbers have been crunched, home runs measured and pitchers dejected and it’s official — Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit the longest home run in the majors during May.

Goldschmidt’s 7th-inning blast off of San Diego Padres reliever Troy Patton, which traveled an estimated 470 feet, barely edged out Arizona product C.J. Cron’s 468-foot blast — his first in the big leagues.

Another name familiar to D-backs fans checked in at No. 5 on the list of the longest May home runs — Justin Upton, who hit a 457-foot bomb on May 6.

Half of Goldschmidt’s 10 home runs this season have traveled more than 400 feet, and two of those have gone further than 430. His latest bomb smashed off the video screen at Chase Field, and you can watch it in all its glory below:
