For the first nine-and-a-half innings of Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Braves, the Arizona Diamondbacks saw their season wrapped up into a single game.

They pitched but didn’t hit well. They scratched across a run only to allow one in the next half-inning. They couldn’t take advantage of a multitude of opportunities to win.

But then it all changed in an instant.

Martin Prado recorded three hits on his bobblehead night, Miguel Montero launched a game-tying solo home run and the D-backs scored in three straight innings against one of the best bullpens in baseball to top the Braves 4-3 in 11 innings at Chase Field.

The D-backs managed to tie the game at 2 in the 9th only to allow another run in the top of the 10th. They then tied the game again on Miguel Montero’s solo home run in the 10th before Gerardo Parra’s ninth inning, one-out single scored Cody Ross to end the game.

Here’s a closer look at the win, by the numbers:

.520

Prado is how hitting a blistering .520 over his last 25 at-bats (13-for-25), and his season average is now at .289 after a woeful start to the season.

1

Arizona infielder Didi Gregorius made his first career start at second base on Saturday after making 103 major league starts at shortstop. He wasted no time getting in on the action, as all three balls put in play in the first inning were to him.

2 (part I)

The D-backs went just 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position in Saturday’s game, but they made both of them count. Aaron Hill’s game-tying double in the ninth broke the team’s 0-for-12 streak, and Parra’s game-winner pushed the team’s average with RISP to .125 for the game.

2 (part II)

Parra’s looping single to center in the 11th marked the second walk-off hit of his career.

4

D-backs outfielder Cody Ross, who singled and scored the game-winning run in the 11th inning, is just four for his last 26 at the plate. His season average is at .193.

5

Hill’s game-tying double in the ninth, which was a bullet down the right-field line, was only the fifth hit he’s recorded this season that went to the right side of the field.

6

Diamondbacks rookie outfielder David Peralta has now recorded a hit in all six major league games he has played, and his average is at .542 after adding two more hits Saturday.

8

D-backs closer Addison Reed has given up eight home runs in 28.1 innings pitched after allowing a long go-ahead homer to Jason Heyward with two outs in the 10th inning.

11

Heyward extended his hitting streak to 11 games with his mammoth go-ahead home run in the 10th.
