Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Archie Bradley makes Fall League debut

Oct 9, 2014, 2:57 AM | Updated: 2:57 am

The Arizona Fall League kicked off Tuesday and features some of the league’s top prospects, including Archie Bradley.

Bradley is the Arizona Diamondbacks’ top pitching prospect. He was selected with the seventh pick by the Diamondbacks in the 2011 MLB Draft.

Bradley, the starting pitcher for the Salt River Rafters, pitched for two innings, giving up four hits and three runs. He also had one walk and one strikeout.

According to Eric Longenhagen from FanGraphs.com, Bradley’s biggest strength at this point is his fastball, which registered between 93 and 96 mph throughout the night. However, Bradley showed inconsistency with his release and his curveball.

Longenhagen said Bradley has a lot of raw talent, but needs better control and a reliable changeup in order to be a top pitcher in the majors.

Bradley started the 2014 season with the Reno Aces and finished the season with the Mobile BayBears after a midseason injury forced him to miss some time.

The Rafters play again Wednesday against the Scottsdale Scorpions at Scottsdale Stadium. The Arizona Fall League continues through mid-November.
