Another Arizona Diamondbacks prospect will participate in this year’s 2022 All-Star Futures Game.

MLB announced Wednesday that shortstop Jordan Lawlar has been named to the game as a replacement for injured Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Henry Davis.

Lawlar joins fellow D-backs prospect Corbin Caroll, who was among the first members named to the futures game, on the NL roster.

The shortstop is considered the 12th overall prospect in MLB (No. 2 in the D-backs organization), per MLB Pipeline.

Lawlar was taken sixth overall in the 2021 MLB Draft and has spent the last two seasons in the minor leagues.

His season was cut short to just two games played due to a shoulder injury in 2021. He registered just five at-bats in rookie ball before going down.

This year, however, has been a different story, as Lawlar has appeared in 54 games across Rookie, Single-A and Advanced-A levels.

Spending the most time with the Visalia Rawhide this past season (42 games), Lawlar is hitting .358 and slugging .611 to go along with a 1.070 OPS over 162 at-bats. He’s recorded 58 hits, 29 RBIs, 24 stolen bases and 27 walks over that span. He also struck out 45.

All told across the three minor-league levels, Lawlar is slashing .332/.434/.559.

The All-Star Futures Game will be played this Saturday at 4 p.m. MST.
