Cardinals’ Heap notices Kolb’s confidence, resiliency

Oct 1, 2012, 6:38 PM | Updated: 8:15 pm

Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb both giveth and taketh away.

He threw three touchdowns on the afternoon, one of which was a game-tying dart to Andre Roberts with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game. He also threw an interception in the end zone, which directly led to the need for the game-tying touchdown pass.

The quarterback’s strengths and weaknesses were on full display in the game, but more than his accuracy, ability to make plays with his feet or penchant for untimely turnovers, possibly the most important trait Kolb showed in the win was an ability to bounce back.

“I think this whole year just kind of speaks to his resilience,” Cardinals tight end Todd Heap told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo Monday.

Heap noted how Kolb was brought in last season to be “the guy”, only to struggle with injuries and then lose the starting job in training camp this year.

“And then he comes in and he’s won the last four games for us, so it really speaks to a guy that’s grown in his confidence in his ability,” Heap added. “And just the fact that he can kind of go through all the ups and downs and be resilient in how he handled things.”
