Arizona State quarterback Emory Jones left Saturday’s game vs. Washington at Sun Devil Stadium in the second quarter after being hit in the head while sliding to the turf to end a rush.

Jones absorbed the hit by Washington’s Asa Turner with 8:49 left before halftime and ASU trailing 10-7. Jones quickly went to ASU’s locker room for evaluation after leaving the field.

After a video review, Turner was ejected from the game for targeting.

Trent Bourguet replaced Jones at quarterback. Xazavian Valladay promptly scored on an 11-yard touchdown run on the first play after Jones left the game to pull ASU into a 10-10 tie.

On ASU’s next possession, Bourguet led the Sun Devils to a 17-10 lead via a 90-yard scoring drive that he ended with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Valladay.

ASU upped its lead to 24-10 thanks to a 36-yard interception returned for touchdown by Jordan Clark.

Earlier, Carter Brown kicked a career-best 53-yard field goal for the Sun Devils to cut Washington’s lead to 7-3 after the Huskies scored a touchdown on their first possession. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. capped a 12-play drive with a 1-yard plunge with 4:31 left in the first quarter.

Jones remained out for the rest of the game after taking the hit.

ASU beat UW 45-38.
