The Arizona Cardinals have three running backs on the active roster again, as the team signed practice squad tailback Corey Clement on Saturday.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Friday that Clement would likely be elevated for Monday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers in Mexico City.
The 28-year-old joins James Conner and rookie Keaontay Ingram after the Cardinals waived third-year back Eno Benjamin on Monday. Benjamin signed with the Houston Texans.
Clement signed to Arizona’s practice squad on Oct. 12, the same day the Cardinals placed running back Jonathan Ward on injured reserve. Arizona has since lost Darrel Williams to IR, where he and Ward remain listed.
Clement has played in two games for Arizona this year, primarily on special teams. He has logged one offensive snap and did not touch the ball.
The former Wisconsin Badger has had larger offensive roles throughout his career. Last season, he carried the ball 33 times for 140 yards. Clement scored six total touchdowns as a rookie in 2017 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Arizona’s 53-man roster is back to 53 players.
