Two former Phillies’ help the Dodgers get past the D-backs: By the Numbers

The Philadelphia Phillies continue to be a thorn in the side of the Arizona Diamondbacks this season.
First, the team with the current worst-record in baseball swept the D-backs in May, then went on to steal another game in August at Chase Field to hand Arizona four losses in the six meetings between the teams this season.
Tonight, it was a couple of Phillies legends that doomed the Diamondbacks in a 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
It started when Chase Utley took the first pitch of the night from D-backs starter Chase Anderson and deposited it into the outfield bleachers to put the Dodgers up early.
Los Angeles didn’t hold the lead for long though, as Paul Goldschmidt quickly tied the game up in the second inning with a home run to right center field.. Goldy has now hit a home run in four consecutive games at Dodger Stadium to tie a team record set by Chad Tracy in 2005.
That score held all the way until the eighth inning when two former Phillies gave the Dodgers the lead for good.
Former Phillies NL MVP Jimmy Rollins led off the eighth against David Hernandez with an infield single and then went to second base on a sacrifice bunt. That brought Utley back to the plate, who went on to whack a double off the wall to score Rollins.
Corey Seager then hit a two-run home run to add cushion to a lead they would not surrender.
The story of the night despite the loss for the D-backs was starting pitcher Chase Anderson, who did not allow a hit after Utley’s lead-off home run. The right-hander went six strong innings, striking out a career-high 10 batters while allowing a hit and two walks.
Anderson was masterful in his first game since Sept 8, retiring the final 13 batters he faced on the evening.
The D-backs offense couldn’t muster much against the Dodgers pitching tonight, which ruined Anderson’s strong performance.
