LISTEN: Doug & Wolf NFL Power Poll heading into Week 5

Every Wednesday, Doug and Wolf unveil their top five NFL teams on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.

Neither Doug nor Wolf has changed the top team from their Week 4 list, as the New England Patriots still sit at the top. However, there has been some movement behind the defending champs, along with some differences between the two polls.

Franz is admittedly not high on the Seahawks, but though they’ve struggled, said, “I know there’s issues, but until somebody really smacks Seattle in the face they’re still your defending NFC champions.” Franz also dropped the Cardinals because they suffered their first loss of the season, at home to the St. Louis Rams.

“The reason why is hey, you did lose to the St. Louis Rams. I did have you as high as number three, you only drop one spot,” he said. “I still think you’re one of the best teams in the NFL.”

Wolf’s rankings are a bit different than Franz’s.

“Cam Newton playing very, very well, right; the defense is back in Carolina,” he said. “There’s an awful lot to prove, but they are 4-0 right now — and I know you can talk about ‘well, look at the division they play in and look at the teams they’ve played’ — they’re 4-0 right now, they’re getting back to the old Carolina Panthers.”

There was also some disagreement on the third team.

Wolf said this was a very difficult choice because he didn’t know which way to go, but he ultimately decided to go with the 4-0 Broncos.

“Because of the efficiency of their offense,” he explained. “Because the efficiency, even though Peyton Manning, his arm is highly suspect to me, watching him throw the ball, watching him scream as he throws the ball down the field.

“That defense is special and for real.”

Doug and Wolf unveil their NFL top five every Wednesday morning at around 7:30 a.m.
