Cardinals general manager Steve Keim has had success when it comes to value signings. Whether it be Karlos Dansby, Antonio Cromartie, or Larry Foote, he’s found the right players for a great price.

This year it looks like Keim has done it again with running back Chris Johnson.

Johnson’s one year, $2 million contract earned the praise of CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson.

Johnson admitted this week that he was contemplating retirement after he was shot in the shoulder this offseason, but the former first-round pick has had a resurgence in Arizona, where he’s averaging 4.4 yards per carry, including a 110-yard effort against the 49ers in Week 3. The 30-year-old has has been a pleasant surprise while Andre Ellington recovers from a knee injury.

After averaging the lowest yards per carry of his career in 2013 and struggling in his one season with the New York Jets in 2014, Johnson is having a comeback season in Arizona.

Johnson has averaged at least five yards per carry in the last two games, including his 20 carries for 110 yards and two touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3.

Joining Johnson on the list of value signings are Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones, Denver Broncos safety Darian Stewart, Philadelphia Eagles safety Walter Thurmond, and Bills guard Richie Incognito.
