The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking for a new manager.

According to a report, they’re bringing in one candidate who is responsible for one of the most memorable moments in franchise history.

Gibson, 58, played for the Dodgers from 1988 to 1990 and won the National League MVP in his first season in Los Angeles. His game-winning pinch-hit home run off of Oakland’s Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 of the ’88 World Series is one of the most iconic moments in the sport’s history.

The former Arizona Diamondbacks manager was mostly away from baseball in 2015. After being fired by the D-backs following the 2014 season, Gibson joined the Detroit Tigers broadcast team. But early in the season, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

In four-plus seasons skippering the Diamondbacks, Gibson went 353-375 and guided Arizona to a National League West title in 2011. Gibson was also named the 2011 National League Manager of the Year.

The Dodgers fired manager Don Mattingly after a third straight NL West title and early playoff exit.

Some of the other rumored candidates for the Dodgers job are Ron Roenicke, Tim Wallach, Gabe Kapler, Darin Erstad, Bob Geren, Dave Martinez and Bud Black.
