This is Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer with a meaningful gesture. The context to why he would do something so emphatically explains it all. Cardinals running back Andre Ellington ripped off a 48-yard touchdown jaunt down the sideline, effectively giving Arizona a 39-29 lead with two minutes left in a huge NFC West battle with the Seattle Seahawks. It put a stamp on a 39-32 Cardinals win — a key one in the division, in the playoff race and for what’s becoming a fierce rivalry.
Knowing the importance and timing of the score, backup quarterback Drew Stanton was caught on the sideline waving like a third base coach as Ellington streaked down the sideline. He then added a few boxer’s punches in the gut to perfectly symbolize what the touchdown meant.

It made Stanton an instant celebrity on social media. But he wasn’t the only one celebrating Arizona’s victory.
Seconds later, cameras focused on Palmer facing the Seattle crowd and …
Well, you decide what to call it.
What we do know is that Palmer’s and Stanton’s excitement perfected a big, big victory for the Cardinals, who now have a firm control on the NFC West race.
