Hale was hired as the D-backs manager in Oct. 2014 and led the team to a 79-83 record in his first season. He previously spent time in the D-backs organization under Bob Melvin in 2006 and was the manager of the AAA affiliate Tuscon Sidewinders for three seasons.
The D-backs were the talk of the 2015 MLB offseason, signing Zack Greinke to the highest average annual valued contract in history and acquired Shelby Miller in a deal that included No. 1 overall pick Dansby Swanson.
