TEMPE – Arizona State University has signed two additional student-athletes to national letters of intent to study and participate in football in 2011, head coach Dennis Erickson announced Tuesday.

Pasadena (Calif.) Muir High School wide receiver Karl Holmes and Butte College (Calif.) wideout/return specialist Rashad Ross have been added to ASU’s 2011 recruiting class, bringing the total to 18.

Holmes brings an excellent blend of size and athleticism to the future of ASU’s wide receiver lineup.

He runs a 4.54 40-yard dash and also ran track for Muir High School, with personal bests of 10.89 in the 100-meter and 21.78 in the 200-meter.

Holmes led Muir with 23 receptions for 628 yards (27.3 avg.) and six touchdowns as a senior in 2010.

Rashad Ross is an electrifying athlete and one of the premier returns specialists at the junior college level the past two seasons.

He is expected to join the team this fall.

Ross has excellent speed and change of direction. He runs a 4.37 40-yard dash.

He earned First-Team All-America and Region I All-California First-Team honors by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) as a returns specialist both seasons he played at Butte College.

Ross totaled 368 receiving yards on 17 receptions with three touchdowns and 180 rushing yards as a sophomore at Butte College in 2010.

He added 498 yards on kickoff returns and 195 yards on punt returns averaging 12.9 yards on punt returns with one touchdown and 25.3 yards on kickoffs with two scores.

He chose ASU over Arkansas State, Hawaii, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, Utah State and Washington State.
