Dennis Erickson says Sun Devils can beat Ducks

Oct 18, 2011, 6:29 PM | Updated: 7:53 pm

With the way their respective seasons are going, there’s a
decent chance Arizona State and Oregon will play again in
the inaugural Pac-12 championship game.

The Sun Devils lost to the Ducks last Saturday at Autzen –
– where the rematch would likely be played — 41-27, but
gained some confidence along the way.

“There’s no question in my mind we can beat them,” ASU
head coach Dennis Erickson told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns
and Gambo. “But we had our opportunity, who knows what’s
going to happen in the next six weeks.”

Erickson said the team learned a lot from the game and the
fact that they were in “position to win,” but that there’s
plenty of work to be done before anyone in Tempe should be
booking another flight back to Eugene.

“Who knows,” he said. “We have to win all those games, I
feel like we have to win them and then we’ll have an
opportunity.”

But with the Sun Devils having a firm grasp on the Pac-12
South and the Ducks in position to take the North, the
confidence gained from the defeat means the score could be
a little different should they meet again.
