Don’t expect to see Sun Devils make a change at kicker
Arizona State kicker Alex Garoutte has had ups and downs
in his first year with the team, though none of the downs
were as low as the one he suffered Saturday against UCLA.
Called upon three times for field goal attempts, the
freshman missed all three — including a 46-yard attempt
that would won the game as time expired.
For the season Garoutte has made nine of 15 field goal
attempts and 38 of 39 extra points and, in short, is the
team’s best option at the position.
“They’re going to miss the long range ones, that’s just
the nature of college kickers,” ASU head coach Dennis
Erickson told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo. “The
bottom line is, you know, he’s our kicker. We just have to
get him straightened out, I’m not sure what it was.”
