Archuleta: ‘I don’t see anybody who can block Sutton’

A quick tip for the Colorado Buffaloes’ offensive linemen: Look out for Arizona State defensive tackle Will Sutton.

Sutton has been an unstoppable force on defense, ranking near the top of the Pac-12 in sacks and tackles for loss.

When the Sun Devils meet the Buffaloes in Boulder on Thursday, the 6-foot-1, 267-pound junior will certainly cause problems for Colorado’s offensive interior.

Former Sun Devil great and current Pac-12 Network analyst Adam Archuleta spoke with Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf on Wednesday and gave his opinion on the explosive defensive tackle.

“Will Sutton right now is playing as good or better than anybody on defense in the Pac-12,” said Archuleta. “I don’t see anybody who can block him on one-on-one situations.”

Sutton, who is ranked fifth in the country with 6.5 sacks, has emerged as the leader for the top ranked defense in the Pac-12. The Sun Devils’ defense is currently ranked first in the Pac-12 in points and yards allowed per game and tackles for a loss with Sutton providing a team leading 10.

“You know Paul Randolph and Todd Graham has that crew getting after it,” said Archuleta. “First in total defense in the Pac-12, top five in both tackles for loss and sacks. For the most part they’ve taken care of business and played a pretty disciplined brand of football.”

Expect the Sun Devils to continue their dominance over Pac-12 offenses against a Colorado offensive line that has struggled to protect their quarterback. They have allowed 22 sacks so far this season which is second most in the Pac-12.
