ESPN analyst on ASU: ‘They’re not a top 25 team’

Oct 23, 2012, 7:02 PM | Updated: 8:38 pm

ESPN NCAA analyst Mark May told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo the Arizona State/Oregon game would be a “beatdown”.

He was right, as the Sun Devils were blown out by a score of 43-21 at Sun Devil Stadium.

“The point was made that they’re not on the same level, not even close as Oregon,” May told Burns and Gambo Tuesday. “And they’re not a great football team.

“They’re not a top 25 team, they just aren’t.”

The loss dropped the Sun Devils’ record to 5-2 on the season, with a 3-1 mark in the Pac-12. They are still in control of their conference destiny, though May believes this game did show how far ASU still has to go before they’re ready to challenge some of the nation’s best teams.
