Yet again Blaine Gabbert connected to the Arizona Cardinals

If you had Cam Newton in the ‘Arizona Cardinals Future QB Pool’ don’t expect to win. According to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King, Blaine Gabbert seems to be gaining momentum as the future signal caller of the Red Birds.
In his Monday Morning Quarterback column, King drops this interesting little tidbit on us.
I hear the Cards don’t like [Cam Newton]. And Gabbert will not get past Arizona.
While it may only be 14 words in a 2,000+ word column, it has a huge impact on the way fans in Arizona will look at the upcoming NFL draft.
Is it a smoke screen by Ken Whisenhunt, Rod Graves and the Bidwills in the hope of landing a defensive player they truly covet? Will Gabbert even make it to the Cards at No. 5? Does the team really think they can spend another season waiting for a young quarterback to develop before their eyes? Have they forgot what drafting Matt Leinart did, or more appropriately didn’t do, for them?
All those questions and more a will be answered in 30 some-odd days.
Until then, we’ll all just have to live off of King’s 14 words and other speculation like them. At least we seem to now know, the Cardinals don’t want Newton and he likely won’t be on the board anyways. Then again, do we really even know that?
