TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals have announced that they have elevated running back Kerwynn Williams to the active roster and released defensive tackle Bruce Gaston.

Williams, 23, was previously a member of the Cardinals practice squad since signing with the team on Sept. 18.
He also spent the preseason with the Chargers before being released on Aug. 25.

A seventh-round pick (230th overall pick) in the 2013 NFL draft from Utah State, Williams has played in one NFL game with the Indianapolis Colts and three weeks on the Colts practice squad last season.

At Utah State, he was an honorable mention All-America selection and first-team All-WAC selection after rushing for 1,512 yards his senior year.

Williams will wear No. 33 with the Cardinals.

Arizona has also released defensive tackle Bruce Gaston.
