Could Brewster be joining Rich Rod’s staff?

Nov 30, 2011, 5:32 PM | Updated: 5:39 pm

Rich Rodriguez was named the head coach of the Arizona
Wildcats last week, and immediately there was speculation
on what the rest of his staff would look like.

While there is still a lot of football to be played in the
2011 season limiting many possibilities for Rodriguez, one
interesting name is surfacing. It’s the name of former
Minnesota head coach Tim Brewster.

Kirk Bohls of The Austin Statesman
wrote
on Wednesday

morning that Brewster has been in contact with Rodriguez,
but U of A is not the only program possibly interested in
his services.

Former Texas assistant football coach Tim
Brewster may return to coaching after a year as a Fox
Sports sideline reporter and has been offered positions on
the new staffs of Urban Meyer at Ohio State and Rich
Rodriguez at Arizona, the Statesman has learned.
It’s not certain which positions he’s being considered
for.

Brewster was canned as Minnesota’s head coach after the
2010 season. In four years with the Gophers, he led them
to a 15-30 record and two Insight Bowl losses.

Prior to his stint at Minnesota, Brewster spent five
seasons in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and Denver
Broncos. His past college experience includes stops at
North Carolina from 1989 to 1997 and Texas from 1998 to
2001. He’s never served as a coordinator in college,
adding to the doubt of what position he’s up for.

This past season, Brewster served as a sideline reporter
for Fox Sports.
