Former Arizona coach Mike Stoops heading to Ohio State?

Mike Stoops has been unemployed for nearly two months now,
though the former Arizona coach may not be out of work for
long.
According to the Oklahoman, Stops has met with Ohio
State coach Urban Meyer about possibly joining the new
coach’s staff.
“I don’t comment on that stuff,” Stoops said in a
telephone interview with The Oklahoman. “But I can confirm
that I have visited with coach Meyer.”
Stoops would find a home on the defensive side of the
coaching staff, possibly as a co-defensive coordinator.
He’d be working with Luke Fickell, who was the team’s
interim head coach this season and will run the defense
for Meyer.
Still, the job may suit Stoops a little better than being
a head coach did. Known for his ability to coach defense,
he’d be able to focus solely on that side of the ball.
“Coaching defense has always been my passion,” Stoops
said. “You get very close to the defense. If the right
opportunity presents itself, and it’s a good arrangement,
I would certainly be excited about it.”
