With running back Andre Ellington on the shelf for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, many were expecting newly-signed running back Michael Bush to make a contribution to the Arizona Cardinals’ sagging running game.
The Cardinals themselves were not among the many.
Bush was waived Friday as the Cardinals shuffled their roster. Linebacker Matt Shaughnessy was activated from the injured reserve/designated to return list and running back Kerwynn Williams was elevated from the practice squad.
Tight end Matthew Mulligan was also waived.
Bush, 30, was signed Nov. 25 to bolster the Cardinals’ running back position, but was not active for last Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Bush spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the Chicago Bears, running for 608 yards and eight touchdowns on 177 carries. Prior to that, he spent four years with the Oakland Raiders after being a fourth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft out of Louisville.
