The Arizona Diamondbacks filled out their Major League coaching staff Wednesday when they named Steve Sax their new first base coach.

The 52-year-old Sax played 14 years in the Major Leagues with the Dodgers, Yankees, White Sox and A’s, finishing his career with a .281 batting average, 54 home runs, 550 RBI and 444 stolen bases. Sax was a five-time All-Star and was named the National League Rookie of the Year in 1982.

Sax replaces Eric Young, who was let go following the 2012 campaign after serving as the team’s first base coach for two seasons.

Earlier Wednesday, the club announced Turner Ward was joining the Major League coaching staff as an assistant hitting coach.
