Former Arizona Cardinals LB Schofield opens up about release

Sep 6, 2013, 11:53 PM | Updated: 11:54 pm

Former Arizona Cardinals linebacker O’Brien Schofield went on 710 ESPN Seattle with Wyman, Mike and Moore on Friday and opened up about his unhappiness over the way the Cardinals released him back in July.

Schofield, now with the Seattle Seahawks, said he could tell things weren’t going well with the Cardinals when the new coaching staff came in.

“I could kind of tell they didn’t want me there from the jump,” Schofield said. “I had to put up with a lot of B.S. in the OTAs and it used to drive me crazy.”

He said the first sign of trouble was when the team made him start camp with the rookies, even though he’s about begin his fourth year. Then on the first day of camp before the conditioning test, they pulled him aside on the field and released him there. Schofield said he’s using it as motivation going forward.

“I’m fired up for the rest of my career,” he said, before adding he’s happy now in Seattle. “These guys here about competing, having a great time. I feel like family here.”

The Cardinals host the Seahawks on October 17.
