The Arizona Diamondbacks had a difficult time in the batter’s box Tuesday night in their 3-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Reds starter Mike Leake gave up five hits and struck out eight in his seven-plus innings of work.

The Reds scored a run off pitcher Trevor Cahill in the bottom of the first inning and that would be all they would need. Runs in the second and sixth were insurance runs.

Flame-throwing Aroldis Chapman came in for the save and that was that as he put the D-backs away in order.

It was the Reds second win in 11 games since the All-Star break.

Here’s a look at Tuesday’s game by the numbers:

0, 8

The Reds’ Leake had zero walks and struck out eight Diamondbacks in his 7.2 innings. And from the hitting side of things he had an RBI.

1

Didi Gregorious was the only Diamondback to record more than one hit. His triple was his fourth of the season.

.143

The Diamondbacks were 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The hit, by Gregorious, moved Parra from second to third in the top of the seventh inning.

2

The Diamondbacks have scored two runs in 24 innings of baseball in Cincinnati over the last two days.

3

Starting pitcher Trevor Cahill gave up three runs while taking the loss. He’s now 1-8 on the season with a 5.59 ERA. Since re-joining the rotation on July 18 he has given up three runs in all three of his outings. Going six innings was the longest he has lasted in a game since April 2.

.302

With an 0-for-4 performance Paul Goldschmidt sees his batting average drop to .302. He was last hitting below .300 on June 29. He and the D-backs will face Alfredo Simon on Wednesday.

18

Gerardo Parra now has 18 doubles on the season after his two-bagger off Leake.

100

Chapman recorded his 100th save in getting two ground outs and a strike out in the ninth inning.
