Former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Evan Marshall was struck by a line drive while pitching for the Reno Aces (AAA) on Tuesday night.
According to the D-backs, Marshall suffered a fractured skull and required surgery to alleviate swelling and pressure. He is currently in stable condition, but remains in the hospital’s intensive care unit. He is alert, been engaging in conversation, and is able to walk.
Marshall has pitched in 70 games for the D-backs in his career. He made 13 appearances this season before being optioned to Reno in May.
He was selected by the D-backs in the fourth round of the 2011 MLB draft.
