Arizona Cardinal quarterbacks have combined to throw seven interceptions in four preseason games.

Three of those picks belong to Kevin Kolb and two to John Skelton, meaning each QB has had some issues with ball control.

That's going to have to change, according to Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt.

"If you look at where we are as a team, if we don't turn the ball over we've got a pretty good football team," Whisenhunt told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Monday.

Indeed, the Cardinals can ill-afford to give away opportunities, and while it would be nice to find a quarterback who can light up the scoreboard, the coach feels like cutting down on turnovers could be equally important.

"To me, number one at that position, we cannot turn the ball over the way we've done in preseason."

It would probably be fair to say the QB competition has not gone exactly according to plan, because most were hoping (or expecting) one of the two options to really stand out. Unfortunately neither of the two has really staked claim to the job, which is pretty disappointing.

listen Listen: Ken Whisenhunt, AZ Cards' head coach
Ken Whisenhunt talks about his expectations for the quarterback who is going to start. Plus, what is the most frustrating thing in camp and the preseason? Plus, what is his reasoning on waiting to name a starter? And, are the Seattle Seahawks on the Cards' mind?
"You would like to have a clear-cut vision of who that guy would be, that's what you would hope for, but it hasn't come out that way," the coach said. "That's the way it goes sometimes, and I think ultimately we have to stick to our process and pick the player that we think best gives us a chance to win.

"And that's what we're going to do."

Whisenhunt did say that there is no official timetable for which a decision will be made, adding that he'd wait until the final moment if it gave the team a better chance to prepare for the first game.

"I don't think waiting until the last minute is good in this situation," he said. "I think we want to say this is what our starting team is, this is what our expectations are, and when it's the appropriate time we're going to do that."

    News Flash!
Cards "cannot turn the ball over the way we've done in preseason." That's just amazing insight by the head coach. Here's another news flash for ya: The offensive line needs a little improvement. Then, maybe, the QB's can actually play their spot!

    Things could be worse.
As some Brown's fans from Ohio stated to me while I was visiting the probowl hall of fame yesterday....they would gladly trade their probowl LT for our probowl play makers any day of the week and twice on Sunday. "I love Joe Thomas, but he'll never win us a playoff game" one said. The group would also happily take John Skelton off our hands for all of their QB's. No requests for Kolb though.

Wow....Here is a picture with Kevin Kolb with his eyes open while being hit! I think he's showing real progress. ( Isn't it amazing what you can do when you can see what your throwing at? )

How r they gna do, genious?
If they dont have a pocket to move around and step up into? Gosh! Whiz is sooo slow understanding that! I was watching the NFL network last night and they were timing Rodgers, Breese, Brady, and Mannings release. Their release is anywhere between .33 - .37 seconds. Sorry Whiz, but we dont have that kind of talented QB on this team to do that LET ALONE MAKE NO MISTAKES BEHIND A SORRY FREAKING LINE!!!!
