LISTEN: Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals wide receiver

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will host the Larry Fitzgerald Double Play Celebrity Softball Game for the fourth time.

The event raises money for the Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund.

“My charity is a big part of what I do and I want to continue to expand on that,” Fitzgerald said in thinking about his future.

Fitzgerald gets a big group of athletes together, mostly NFL players, and puts them on a different field — a baseball diamond.

The game, great for the whole family, takes place on Saturday, April 26 at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale. You can purchase tickets for $20.

“The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and you can purchase tickets at any time [on a walk-up basis or online], with the home run derby at 6:30 p.m. and the actual game starting at 7 p.m.,” Fitzgerald said.

Attendees have the opportunity to watch the softball game, participate in interactive activities, bid on live auction items, as well as meet and receive autographs from their favorite players/entertainers.

Participants will be Fitzgerald, Seattle Seahawk cornerback Richard Sherman, singer, songwriter and actress Ashanti, San Francisco 49ers receiver Anquan Boldin, NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton, Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall and Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett, receiver Michael Floyd and cornerback Patrick Peterson, among others.
